Adventist's Florida Hospital releases details of $600M network revamp: 8 notes

Orlando-based Florida Hospital, part of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System, plans to invest $600 million in acquisitions and renovations over the next three years, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

Here are eight projects Florida Hospital will invest in.  

1. The biggest project underway is Florida Hospital Tampa's new patient tower, which will cost $300 million. The tower will feature additional beds, operating rooms and parking.

2. The hospital also plans to revamp its emergency department at Tarpon Springs-based Florida Hospital North Pinellas for $30 million. It will also spend $17.5 million to expand Tampa-based Florida Hospital Carrollwood's ED, which will add 15 private rooms, effectively doubling the number of patients who can receive healthcare services.

3. Florida Hospital is also embarking on a network expansion into Lakeland, Fla., where it recently purchased 103 acres for $14.5 million. A freestanding emergency room and a hospital are proposed for the site.

4. Land O' Lakes-based Florida Hospital Connerton Long Term Acute Care will begin an expansion May 31 to add 25 beds and an intensive care unit.

5. Adventist's Florida Hospital also recently leasedMonroeRegionalMedicalCenter, a 421-bed facility in Ocala, Fla.

6. Florida Hospital's three-year capital investment plan also includes expanding its ambulatory care network. Currently, the hospital plans to construct three freestanding emergency rooms in Westchase, Fla., and two in Brandon, Fla. Further, it aims to increase the number of urgent care clinics from six to 10.

7. In the past year, Florida Hospital also opened a $31.5 million facility at Florida Hospital Wauchula with 25 inpatient rooms and Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel opened a 24-bed ED.

8. "Tampa is a growing market and one of the staples of a growing community is healthcare," Florida Hospital CEO Michael Schultz told the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
