Several hospitals and health systems, including Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente and Pittsburgh-based UPMC, have started or planned projects costing $1 billion or more.
The eight projects Becker's has reported on since June 15:
- Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag is spending $1 billion on a project that will add two specialty hospitals.
- Charleston, S.C.-based Roper St. Francis is set to build a new $1 billion hospital in North Charleston.
- Construction resumed after cracks were found on Columbus-based Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's $1.9 billion hospital tower.
- Pacific Life, a Salt Lake City-based developer, broke ground on a $5 billion Las Vegas medical campus.
- Cooper University Healthcare is planning a $2 billion expansion to its Camden, N.J., campus.
- Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente is expanding two hospitals and building two medical offices in a $1.7 billion project.
- St. Louis Veterans Administration Health is planning a $1 billion renovation for its St. Louis-based John Cochran Veterans Hospital.
- Pittsburgh-based UPMC broke ground on a $1.5 billion 17-story hospital.
