St Johnsbury-based Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and Morristown-based Copley Hospital recieved millions in funding from the United States Department of Agriculture, NBC5 reported March 24.
NVRH recieved $16.5 million in a community facilities loan and $1 million in an emergency rural healthcare grant. Copley Hospital also earned $1 million in an emergency rural healthcare grant, along with a $9.9 million community facilities loan.
The sum of that money is expected to benefit nearly 10,000 people, the report said.
NVRH plans to use the money to add more beds and increase efficiency at its pharmacy, behavioral health, and emergency departments. Copley plans to open an orthopedic office and buy medical imaging equipment.
