11 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

Eleven hospitals or health systems announced, started or completed construction projects in the last two weeks:

1. Atrium Health breaks ground on 8-story North Carolina medical tower 
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health broke ground this week on its eight-story medical tower on its Pineville hospital campus.

2. Tenet expands footprint with microhospital in San Antonio
San Antonio-based Baptist Health System, part of Tenet Healthcare, opened a microhospital in San Antonio on Jan. 29 through a joint venture with hospital operator Emerus Holdings.

3. NYC Health + Hospitals opens Queens express care clinic
New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals has opened its second express care clinic in Queens.

4. Atrium breaks ground on $116M Charlotte hospital
Atrium Health broke ground Jan. 23 on its $116 million hospital in Charlotte, N.C.

5. Baptist Health to build $200M Florida hospital
Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health will build a $200 million, full-service hospital on its campus in Fleming Island, Fla.

6. Children's Medical Center Plano to triple capacity with 7-story tower
Children's Medical Center Plano in Texas plans to triple its patient capacity with the construction of a seven-floor tower.

7. Novant to build $154M hospital in Charlotte
Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health will build a $154 million hospital in Charlotte, N.C., after securing approval from the city council.

8. Intermountain plans $500M investment in pediatrics, including new children's hospital
Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare plans to invest $500 million to support pediatric-specific projects across its network.

9. Baptist Healthcare to invest $1B in upgrades
Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Healthcare System plans to invest about $1 billion on upgrades and expansions "to create the next generation healthcare system."

10. Baylor Scott and White opens hospital in Austin
Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health opened its first hospital in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 15.

11. Tennessee systems open joint 60-bed behavioral health hospital
TriStar Health and Maury Regional Medical Center have opened their 60-bed behavioral health hospital.
