Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald announced in a CBS "60 Minutes" interview that 35 staffers will be let go, with an additional 1,000 staffers' jobs on the line, for their roles in the capacity scandal that rocked the VA earlier this year, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.
According to Mr. McDonald, those who will be fired "violated [the VA's] values" and have already been placed on administrative leave in advance of a formal ruling.
Mr. McDonald also announced plans for creating a chief customer service officer position within the agency in order to prevent any problems with care from being masked as they had been previously, according to the report.
