6 Benefits of a Hospital's Centralized Transfer Center

Centralized transfer centers can offer several benefits to hospitals, both in efficiency, physician satisfaction and cost savings, according to a TeleTracking Technologies blog post.

For example, 1,800-bed Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio created a central patient placement service supported by TeleTracking's automated TransferCenter application. The system has received several benefits from the center and software:

•    Transfer center acceptance rate reached 99.6 percent.
•    Volume increased 300 percent.
•    Diversions decreased 73 percent.
•    Emergency department hold hours decreased 50 percent.
•    Transfer center admissions increased from 180 per month to 400 per month.
•    The center yielded $25 million in profit.
