Brian Acton, co-founder of WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, tweeted March 20 Facebook users should delete their profiles on the website, according to Fortune.
Mr. Acton helped found WhatsApp in 2009 before Facebook bought the app in 2014; he continued to work at the company until November 2017. Facebook has been under fire this last week after revelations that political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica misused the personal data of over 50 million Facebook users.
"It is time. #deltefacebook," Mr. Acton tweeted. The tweet was liked by more than 14,000 Twitter users.
