Indra Nooyi, who has served as CEO of PepsiCo since 2006, will step down from her role Oct. 3, though she will continue to serve as chairwoman of the board of directors until early next year, according to CNN Money.
Ms. Nooyi has been with PepsiCo for 24 years and is one of only 24 women leading Fortune 500 companies.
"Leading PepsiCo has truly been the honor of my lifetime, and I'm incredibly proud of all we have done over the past 12 years to advance the interests not only of shareholders, but all our stakeholders in the communities we serve," Ms. Nooyi said in a prepared statement. "Growing up in India, I never imagined I'd have the opportunity to lead such an extraordinary company."
Ms. Nooyi will be replaced by Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo's president and chief of global operations.
