Google dedicates $300M to help fight fake news

Google started a $300 million program with the goal of improving the quality of digital journalism and fighting the spread of fake news, according to Fortune.

The Google News Initiative is a three-year partnership with multiple news organization including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Gannett and the Financial Times.

The program aims to develop tools that can empower organizations to increase digital revenue and make it easier to boost subscriptions by allowing readers to combine all their digital subscriptions with their Google login credentials. Google Analytics and other software will also give organizations better information on user behavior.
