Amazon replaced Google parent Alphabet as the second most valuable American company March 20, CNN Money reports.
The change happened as Google stock took a hit for the third straight day March 20 while Amazon rebounded. Amazon's market value grew to $765 billion, nearly $3 billion more than Google's value. Apple remains uncontested as the most valuable U.S. company.
The ongoing Facebook data scandal pulled down Google's stock in recent days.
Since the beginning of the year, Amazon has continued to see shares climb. Its shares are up 35 percent this year, which is less than 3 percent from its record high, CNN Money reports.
