Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Wash., will open a new, $460 million patient tower in June, according to a The Herald report.
The construction of the 12-story tower is the most expensive construction project undertaken by Providence Health & Services, the hospital's parent. It is expected to take 40 years to pay off, according to the report.
The new tower is part of a nearly decade-long wider strategy by Everett to expand and enhance its facilities in order to keep patients from traveling to Seattle or other nearby cities for care. It will feature 240 rooms — the majority of which will be private — family sleeping areas and kitchens for use by families of patients.
