Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center has purchased land to build a new $200 million medical campus in Franklin, Tenn., according to a Nashville Business Journal report.
Vanderbilt acquired the 147 acres for $5.1 million in order to consolidate and increase outpatient services in the suburban Nashville market.
A portion of the campus is expected to be completed by 2014, and is expected to expand after that.
The development is meant to better serve customers in suburban Williamson County and is not intended to drive competition with Williamson County Medical Center, a county-owned hospital less than five miles away from the planned campus, according to the report.
