Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, Phoebe Ministries Form Teleneurology Partnership

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa., and Phoebe Ministries, a non-profit healthcare organization for senior adults in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, have partnered to use telemedicine as a way to provide neurological care to Phoebe residents with Parkinson's disease, according to a health system news release.

This partnership connects a neurologist from LVHN with nurses at Phoebe who have been trained to use the telemedicine technology. Through teleneurology, Phoebe residents have access to the neurologist during virtual, confidential appointments. The use of two-way audio and high-definition video equipment enables the LVHN neurologist to virtually participate in a physical exam, consult with the Phoebe staff and make clinical recommendations for prescriptions and additional tests, if needed.
