Rice Memorial Considers Joint Venture for Anesthesia, Sleep Lab Services

Local anesthesia services would be folded into Willmar Medical Services, a four-year-old joint venture between Rice Memorial Hospital and Affiliated Community Medical Centers, if the Rice hospital board approves the proposal, according to a West Central Tribune report.

The plan would transfer sleep lab services into the joint entity as well. The proposal has been under formal discussion since last fall and has support from leaders at Rice and ACMC.

If the proposal is approved, inpatient and outpatient professional services by certificate registered nurse anesthetists would be transferred to Willmar Medical Servicse, as well as anesthesia facility fees for outpatient procedures performed at Rice and facility fees for sleep lab services done at Rice.

ACMS services transferred to the joint entity include physician anesthesiologist professional fees for procedures done at Rice and the Willmar Surgery Center, all sleep lab physician professional services performed for patients at Rice and all CRNA services performed at the surgery center.
