Tampa Bay, Fla.-based BayCare Physician Partners, a physician-led clinically integrated network, has been successful thus far in its transition to value-based care, according to a report from the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
Its network of nearly 1,400 physicians includes independent physicians and those employed by Tampa Bay-based BayCare Health System. In just three years, the CIN has struck deals with most major payers in its market, including UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna and Florida Blue, according to the report.
It has reduced emergency department utilization and hospitalization, which has helped the group control costs. In fact, in 2013 and 2014, the CIN's accountable care programs garnered $4.1 million in shared savings in 2013 and 2014, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Numbers for 2015 have not yet been released, but Ethan Chernin, director of operations for BayCare Physician Partners, told the Business Journal he expects 2015 savings to be significant.
