Holon Solutions and the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals announced an agreement with North Texas Medical Center to build a health information exchange that will connect the hospital with physician clinics in the surrounding area.
North Texas Medical Center will use Holon's CollaborNet HIE solution to connect its MEDITECH electronic health record system with eight physician clinics in Gainesville, Texas.
"With help from Holon Solutions and TORCH, North Texas Medical Center is establishing the critical infrastructure to become a trusted hub of health information exchange between providers and realize our long-term vision of forming an accountable care organization," said Randy Bacus, CEO of North Texas Medical Center.
In the initial phase of the HIE project, North Texas Medical Center will exchange lab orders and results, radiology orders and reports and patient discharge summaries with clinics in Gainesville. Future phases of the HIE project will include expanding the HIE to other providers in the surrounding area.
"North Texas Medical Center is taking a lead in its community to improve patient care through the exchange of critical patient information," said David Pearson, president and CEO of TORCH.
