Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health has been recertified as a level 3 accountable care organization by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its strong performance in achieving the triple aim, Brainerd Dispatch reported.
Level 3 is the highest accreditation an ACO can earn, and just two U.S. health systems have earned this certification, according to the report. These health systems are Essentia and Minneapolis-based HealthPartners, according to the report.
NCQA determines the eligibility of organizations based on their ability to protect patient rights and privacy, provide easily-accessible services, focus on patient-centered primary care, coordinate care to manage populations and monitor performance data to improve quality, according to the report. The certification lasts three years.
