Integrated Care Partners, Cigna Start Collaborative Care Program

Hartford, Conn.-based Integrated Care Partners, Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare's physician-led clinical integration organization, and Cigna have announced a collaborative care initiative.

The new collaborative care program will benefit nearly 16,000 individuals covered by a Cigna health plan who are receiving care from more than 1,200 Integrated Care Partners primary care physicians and specialists, according to the news release.

Cigna will compensate Integrated Care Partners for the care coordination and medical services it provides, and Integrated Care Partners may be rewarded through a "pay for value" structure if it meets targets for improving quality and lowering medical costs, according to the news release.

"Across Connecticut, Hartford HealthCare and our providers are well known for the quality care we deliver to our communities. By working collaboratively with payers such as Cigna and focusing on improved care coordination and preventive care, we will lead the movement toward higher-quality care, better health and an enhanced patient experience," said Jim Cardon, executive vice president and chief clinical integration officer at Hartford HealthCare, in the news release.
