Humana, United Hospital System enter accountable care partnership

Humana and Kenosha, Wis.-based United Hospital System signed a three-year accountable care agreement Monday, starting Jan. 1, 2015.

The agreement aims to enable Humana Medicare Advantage beneficiaries to access more coordinated, higher quality care for a lower cost. The partnership will focus on meeting the National Committee for Quality Assurance's Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set outcomes, which include diabetes care and treatment, cancer screenings and high-risk medication management. To achieve these outcomes, the healthcare organizations plan to leverage predictive analytics, chronic disease management and wellness programs, according to a statement.

United Hospital System plans to finish construction and open a new three-story medical office next spring or summer. The center will offer audiology services, physical therapy, urgent care, diagnostic services and physician offices. The system includes Kenosha Medical Center Campus, St. Catherine's Medical Center Campus and a number of off- and onsite physician clinics in Kenosha, Paddock Lake, Wis., and Gurnee, Ill. The system treats about 65 percent of Kenosha County.

Humana has established more than 900 accountable care relationships across 43 states and Puerto Rico, according to the report.
