Humana, Partners in Primary Care to launch South Texas ACO

Humana and San Antonio, Texas-based Partners in Primary Care announced last week a new accountable care agreement in San Antonio and South Texas.

Adding on to Humana's existing agreement for Medicare Advantage members, under the new agreement Humana's commercial members will have access to coordinated services at 10 medical clinics in the area.

Participating physician practices will have the opportunity to earn annual wellness bonuses for improving the health of their Humana patients.

"The physicians and staff at Partners in Primary Care have one singular goal — to improve the quality of life of our patients," Bruce Begia, MD, vice president of medical operations for Partners in Primary Care, said in a statement. "Through a value-based Humana partnership approach, our physicians are able to provide wellness, prevention, disease management and a better experience to patients with improved outcomes, like reduction in hospitalizations and emergency room visits."
