Louisville, Ky.-based health insurer Humana has had a busy week thus far, entering into a value-based agreement with Banner Network Colorado and launching an accountable care agreement with HealthCare Partners Nevada.
Under the accountable care agreement between Humana and Banner Network Colorado, consumers choosing Humana's HMO plans through, but not limited to, Colorado's insurance marketplace, will have access Banner Network Colorado's more than 300 primary care physicians and specialists, including five hospitals and many health centers, clinics and ancillary services.
The arrangement, effective Jan. 1, 2015, will offer members more personalized care and wellness programs focusing on individual preventive care, chronic conditions and disease management.
Paul Kellogg, senior director of managed care for Banner Health expressed optimism over the arrangement.
"We believe offering high-value medical care in the right place at the right time keeps patients healthier and reduces the costs of their care," said Mr. Kellogg. "We are excited to align with Humana in providing patients with improved access and outcomes while being cost effective with health care dollars."
The recently announced accountable care arrangement and population-health partnership between Humana and HealthCare Partners Nevada expands upon a longstanding relationship between the two entities.
HealthCare Partners Nevada is comprised of approximately 310 primary care providers, including 98 primary care locations throughout Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Pahrump, Boulder City and Mesquite, as well as more than 1,700 specialists.
Already this year, HealthCare Partners Nevada has opened three new primary care practices in Las Vegas, providing comprehensive primary care services for Humana Medicare Advantage members, original Medicare beneficiaries and patients with most commercial insurance plans.
In addition to offering more personalized care and wellness programs, the Humana and HealthCare Partners Nevada partnership will also offer members population management tools such as predictive analytics, ac exciting venture according to Rick Beavin, Nevada market president for Humana's Senior Products.
