Florida Blue, Holy Cross Physician Partners Expand Accountable Care Agreement

Florida Blue and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Holy Cross Physician Partners have announced the physician group will provide primary care services for members of Florida Blue Medicare plans in Broward and Palm Beach counties, expanding their existing accountable care agreement.

In 2013, HCPP and Florida Blue formed one of the state's first accountable care organizations which allowed HCPP to provide care to Florida Blue's commercially insured members. The new agreement between the two organizations will extend HCPP's services to more Florida Blue members, according to the news release.

"Insurers and healthcare providers are finding common ground in a shared goal of improved population and reduced per capita costs," said Andy Marino, vice president of delivery systems at Florida Blue, in the news release. "Florida Blue was an active collaborator with HCPP in designing a workable model that, in addition to delivering high quality care, would do so in a quantifiable and reproducible way that was cost effective."
