Cigna has announced three more collaborative care agreements starting this year to achieve goals similar to that of an accountable care organization: improved access, coordination, population health, affordability and customer experience.
The agreements follow five recently announced collaborative care partnerships.
Cigna Collaborative Care aims to close gaps in care and reduce costs. In each partnership, the providers are responsible for coordinating care. This is done with physician-led care teams, which include nurse care coordinators. Cigna will provide case managers to collaborate with providers.
Cigna announced agreements with 1,200 physicians from Durham, N.C.-based Duke Connected Care, a clinically integrated network of physicians from local practices and Duke Medicine, 230 physicians from Dallas-based Texas Clinically Integrated Network and 800 physicians from Portland, Ore.-based Providence Medical Group.
