Dallas-based accountable care organization Premier Patient Health Care and Cigna-HealthSpring, a division of Cigna that serves Medicare and Medicaid enrollees, announced a partnership to improve the quality and affordability of care for Medicare patients.
The agreement, effective September 1, will install a collaborative physician engagement program that includes pay-for-performance incentives and greater care coordination.
"By making the connection between incentive-based care with resources designed to improve patient health, we can help Premier Patient Health Care physicians make health care more affordable to our North Texas customers," Jay Hurt, president and general manager for Cigna-HealthSpring's Texas market, said in a statement. "Together, we can create a better customer experience and enable physicians to focus more of their time on helping patients and less on administrative tasks."
