Cigna announced Tuesday the launch of five new collaborative care agreements in Florida and California, formed to achieve the same population health goals of accountable care organizations.
The partnerships, which all began Jan. 1, emphasize preventive health through better patient access and more coordinated care. Physician-led care teams, which include nurse care coordinators, will work with Cigna case managers to identify and close gaps in care.
Cigna formed agreements with the following providers.
- 750 physicians from San Diego-based Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal Medical Center.
- 1,600 physicians from the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Group.
- 1,800 physicians from Broward Health Services, a division of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health, and Memorial Health Network, the provider group of Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System.
- 200 physicians from Mission Hills, Calif.-based Facey Medical Group.
With the new agreements, Cigna has 114 establish collaborative care arrangements in 28 states across the nation.
