Cigna is launching two new collaborative accountable care initiatives, effective July 1: one with Baycare Health Partners, a physician hospital organization based in Springfield, Mass., and the other with Scottsdale Health Partners, a physician-led clinically integrated network created as a partnership between Scottsdale (Ariz.) Healthcare and Scottsdale Physician Organization.
As part of both collaborative accountable care initiatives, Cigna will compensate the groups for medical care and care coordination services. Additionally, the groups can be rewarded financially for meeting quality and cost targets.
When these agreements go into effect, Cigna will have 66 CAC initiatives in 26 states, covering more than 700,000 commercial customers. The initiatives strive to meet healthcare's triple aim of improved health, affordability and patient experience.
