Blue Shield of California is collaborating with PrimeCare Medical Network and Upland, Calif.-based San Antonio Regional Hospital to expand its accountable care organization in Southern California, according to a report from State of Reform.
The ACO will serve more than 13,000 patients with Blue Shield HMO plans. Under the agreement, the three organizations will work together to better coordinate care and improve quality and affordability of care, according to the report.
PrimeCare is a healthcare delivery network of independently contracted physicians, and San Antonio Regional Hospital is an acute-care hospital that serves more than 200,000 patients annually.
Blue Shield now has 37 ACOs, according to the report.
