Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed Key Community Care, an accountable care organization, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina have signed an accountable care agreement.
Under the agreement, BCBS of North Carolina and WKCC will work together with an aim of improving health outcomes for BCBS of North Carolina members who receive care at WakeMed Health & Hospitals, WakeMed Physician Practices or Key Physicians, according to a news release.
"WKCC providers and BCBSNC will work as a team to align resources, share information and streamline processes, thereby improving the overall patient experience," said Leslie McKinney, MD, president of WKCC, in the release. "The collaborative approach helps to avoid duplicate tests and services, while focusing on the patient to ensure they receive the most effective care in the right setting based on best practices."
