Bethesda, Md.-based Aledade is adding yet another accountable care organization to its portfolio, this time in suburban Philadelphia. The startup, which helps independent physicians participate in value-based care initiatives, announced three other ACO expansions and additions in August alone.
Its latest ACO, dubbed Aledade Freedom ACO, is a partnership with PMA Medical Specialists, a 54-physician, multi-specialty practice located in Pennsylvania's Montgomery and Chester counties. Aledade Freedom ACO will be physician-led across 18 locations in suburban Philadelphia, covering 7,800 Medicare beneficiaries.
"The Philadelphia area has been a leader in value-based care, but it has lacked ACOs led by independent physicians. We at Aledade have brought this to the Delaware Valley because we believe independent primary care doctors are the foundation of an effective and efficient healthcare system," Farzad Mostashari, MD, CEO and co-founder of Aledade, said in a press release. "We're proud to work with a growing, local healthcare leader in PMA Medical Specialists to improve patient health by delivering quality, personalized and coordinated care."
Aledade was founded in June 2014 and has grown to encompass more than 110 physician practices in 11 states across its various ACOs.
