With two years of operation under its belt, Bethesda, Md.-based Aledade, a startup dedicated to helping physicians launch accountable care organizations, is announcing a new kind of partnership.
The company will enter its first-ever commercial partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana. Aledade announced the contract on its second anniversary. Six primary care practices will lead the ACO, which will be part of the payer's Quality Blue Value Partnership program. It will cover more than 6,000 Medicare patients and will be part of the Medicare Shared Savings Program.
The BCBS partnership will double the amount of patients Aledade's Louisiana ACO is able to serve.
"These strategic partnerships are about helping independent primary care doctors provide quality, affordable, personalized care to more and more patients," Farzad Mostashari, MD, CEO and co-founder of Aledade, said in a statement. "At Aledade, we believe independent primary care doctors are the foundation of an effective and efficient healthcare system."
