Partners in Care, an East Brunswick, N.J.-based independent physician association and healthcare management company, launched an accountable care organization with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Jan 1.
The ACO covers about 20,000 BCBSNJ members. Fifty-one physician practices throughout the state are participating.
As part of the ACO, BCBSNJ will make care coordination payments to providers, and ACO practices can share in achieved savings if they meet health improvement, patient satisfaction and cost goals.
"We are proud to have a track record of working with health insurers and self-insured employers to measurably improve the health of their members and employees while bending the cost curve," Ralph Tang, president and CEO of Partners in Care, said in the news release. "We achieve these outcomes by working with and through our extensive and growing network of primary care and multispecialty providers. We look forward to delivering similar results to Horizon and its members."
