Premier, a Charlotte, N.C.-based healthcare performance improvement alliance, last Friday announced new partnerships with five healthcare organizations to develop alternative payment models and population health strategies.
The various organizations will work with Premier to establish clinically integrated networks, Medicare shared savings initiatives and state-based Medicaid payment programs.
The following five organizations signed on this year with Premier: Schenectady, N.Y.-based Ellis Medicine, Albany, N.Y.-based Innovative Health Alliance, Baltimore-based LifeBridge Health, Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System and Show Low, Ariz.-based Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center.
"Premier members understand the need to build better partnerships with physicians to succeed under the new physician payment system, whether in their clinically integrated network, Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organization, state Medicaid programs or through employment," Wes Champion, senior vice president of Premier Performance Partners, said in a statement. "Alternative payment models take time to structure and implement. For those that have not started, it's clear that now is the time to build these capabilities."
