11 healthcare leaders call for collaborative action in advancing accountable care

The Accountable Care Learning Collaborative released Tuesday a call for action signed by 11 industry leaders, challenging healthcare organizations to unite and share population health management solutions.

Dubbed the "Call for Collaborative Action," the release includes seven competency domain papers on governance and culture, financial readiness, care coordination, patient centeredness, quality, health IT and risk assessment. Additionally, the following 11 leaders signed the release to urge others to share population health lessons they've learned.

  • Susan DeVore, President and CEO, Premier (Charlotte, N.C.)
  • Elliott Fisher, MD, Director, Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (Lebanon, N.H.)
  • Richard Gilfillan, MD, President and CEO, Trinity Health (Livonia, Mich.)
  • Mike Leavitt, Founder and Chairman, Leavitt Partners (Salt Lake City)
  • H. Stephen Lieber, President and CEO, HIMSS (Chicago)
  • Brian Marcotte, President and CEO, National Business Group on Health (Washington, D.C.)
  • Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, Director of the Margolis Center for Health Policy, Duke University (Durham, N.C.)
  • Richard Merkin, MD, President and CEO, Heritage Provider Network (Los Angeles)
  • Jeffrey Rideout, MD, President and CEO, Integrated Healthcare Association (Oakland, Calif.)
  • Kent Thiry, Chairman and CEO, DaVita Healthcare Partners (Denver)

The Accountable Care Learning Collaborative is a group of more than 70 organizations that are working together to share their experiences in managing population health and value-based care.
