Mitchell County Hospital (Colorado City, Texas). Mitchell County Hospital opened in 1913 as the first hospital in Colorado City. The hospital moved to a new facility in 2014 and now operates as a 25-bed critical access hospital that owns a rural health clinic. Eight full time employees and seven part time employees staff the hospital and the clinic includes three physicians, a general surgeon and one nurse practitioner. The National Rural Health Association named Mitchell County Hospital among the 2017 Top 20 Critical Access Hospital Best Practice in Quality recognition recipients.
