Kaiser Permanente Vacaville (Calif.). Medical Center. Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center spends 51 percent of its total food budget on sustainable food, while procuring 49 percent of its meat from farms raising non-therapeutic, antibiotics-free animals. The hospital also embarked on the Less Food to Landfill project that includes food donation, composting and food preparation procedures aimed at eliminating food waste. Vacaville Medical Center works with United Cerebral Palsy of North Bay, an organization that employs disabled adults to collect and recycle commodities, through the Gone for Good partnership. Vacaville Medical Center touts an Energy Star score of 72 and is in the midst of installing an onsite solar array as part of an energy master plan. Practice Greenhealth honored Vacaville Medical Center with the Top 25 Environmental Excellence recognition in 2017.
