Bronson Methodist Hospital (Kalamazoo, Mich.).Bronson Methodist Hospital is dedicated to decreasing its carbon footprint. Over the past few years, the hospital decreased energy costs by 75 percent and increased energy efficiency by 22 percent by updating outdoor lighting and redesigning the hospital's exhaust stacks and boiler system. Bronson Methodist's LEED-certified facility features water-filling stations, Styrofoam and electronics recycling, and an employee Bike2Work program. In 2008, the hospital became first in Michigan to sign the Healthy Food in Health Care Pledge, and now all facilities throughout the Bronson system aim to source 60 percent of their food locally. Practice Greenhealth honored BMH with the 2017 Greenhealth Partner for Change Award and Greening the OR Recognition Award.
