Aspen (Colo.) Valley Hospital. Aspen Valley Hospital achieved LEED Gold certification in 2014, becoming the second hospital in Colorado to garner the acclaimed classification. Its environmentally sustainable construction boasts recycled materials and conserves energy through water-efficient landscaping. When building the facility, Aspen Valley Hospital sought compliance with the city of Aspen's Canary Initiative, which aims to have all new facilities in Aspen maintain a zero carbon footprint.
