Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York City). Memorial Sloan Kettering established a Green Team in 2009 to find opportunities to reduce waste and improve sustainability. Since then, the hospital has implemented several sustainability projects, including composting food scraps, working to collect used fryer oil from the kitchen to be reprocessed into biodiesel fuel and using certified green products and microfiber mops. The hospital is also participating in a challenge from former Mayor Michael Bloomberg to lower greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2019 by installing more efficient heating and cooling systems and energy efficient light bulbs. In recognition of its efforts, Memorial Sloan Kettering received the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth in 2016.
