University of Washington Medical Center (Seattle). In 2015, the University of Washington Medical Center became a two-time Practice Greenhealth Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award honoree as well as the recipient of three Circle of Excellence Awards for its chemical reduction efforts, green building achievements and sustainable food services. UWMC uses adjusted building chillers, sterilizers and air compressors to reduce energy consumption and has an ongoing partnership with the Northwest Agriculture Business Center through the Puget Sound Food Network project to bring local foods to the hospital for patients, visitors and staff.
