Hackensack Meridian Health (Edison, N.J.). Hackensack Meridian Health was formed in June 2016 after Hackensack University Health Network and Meridian Health merged. Now, the combined system has 13 hospitals and more than 200 ambulatory care centers in New Jersey. Some of the system's hospitals have been recognized for clinical excellence — U.S. News & World Report named three of Hackensack Meridian Health's hospitals to its top 10 in New Jersey in 2016-17. Less than a year after the merger that formed Hackensack Meridian Health, the system plans to grow further, as it signed a definitive agreement in May to merge with Edison, N.J.-based JFK Health, which would result in a 15-hospital system with more than 33,000 employees.
