Tejal K. Gandhi, MD. President and CEO of the National Patient Safety Foundation. Dr. Gandhi is currently the president and CEO of the National Patient Safety Foundation, which is merging with the Institute for Healthcare effective May 1. After the merger, Dr. Gandhi's title will be chief clinical and safety officer at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Along with her role at the National Patient Safety Foundation, Dr. Gandhi serves as president and CEO of the NPSF Lucian Leap Institute and the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety. She previously acted as executive director of quality and safety at Brigham and Women's Hospital and served as the chief quality and safety officer at Partners Healthcare, both located in Boston. Dr. Gandhi, a board-certified internist and certified professional in patient safety, earned the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award in 2009 for her research on the epidemiology and prevention of medical errors in the outpatient setting.
