Before leading the NPSF, Dr. Gandhi was the executive director of quality and safety at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston for 10 years. There, she worked to optimize systems to reduce medical errors and improve quality of care. Dr. Gandhi has been dedicated to educating clinicians on the issue of patient safety throughout her career. In her current role, Dr. Gandhi advocates for patient safety on a national level, driving educational and professional certification initiatives, while also assisting with the creation and implementation of new safety ideas. She is also an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston. In 2009, she received the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award.
