Lucian Leape, MD. Physician and Professor at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. 

The first portion of Dr. Leape's career was centered on pediatric surgery — he was instrumental in the founding of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. In 1986, Dr. Leape made the shift to health policy. In 1994, Dr. Leape shed light on healthcare safety concerns in his article Error in Medicine, which was published in JAMA and called for the application of systems theory to prevent medical errors. He has been honored with an American Pediatric Surgical Association's Distinguished Service Award and the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award from the Joint Commission and National Quality Forum. In 2007, the National Patient Safety Foundation inaugurated the Lucian Leape Institute to advance strategic thinking in patient safety.
