Atul Gawande, MD.
Dr. Gawande is a general and endocrine surgeon at Brigham and Woman's Hospital in Boston. His 2009 book, "The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right," champions the use of checklists to prevent against adverse events and improve patient outcomes. His most recent book, "Being Mortal," was published in 2014 and examines end-of-life care. Dr. Gawande's work and writing have garnered him two National Magazine Awards, AcademyHealth's Impact Award for highest research impact on healthcare, a MacArthur Fellowship and the Lewis Thomas Award for writing about science. He is a professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston.
