As chief quality officer of Baylor Scott & White, Dr. Ballard designs, implements and evaluates clinical quality improvement initiatives across the system. Under Dr. Ballard's leadership, the system has been recognized by many organizations for its healthcare improvement accomplishments. As STEEEP president, he provides oversight, sets strategy and direction and prioritizes initiatives and operational functions that fall within the six domains of STEEEP — safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered. Throughout his career, Dr. Ballard has served on numerous National Quality Forum committees and editorial boards, and he published a book in 2013 on Baylor's healthcare quality improvement journey, called "Achieving STEEEP Health Care."
