David Birnbach, MD. Director of the Center for Patient Safety at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine-Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Since being made director of the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital Center for Patient Safety in 2006, Dr. Birnbach has worked to ensure that patient safety is a universal priority across the academic healthcare system. He and his team have devised various programs that tightly link patient safety to better outcomes, patient experiences medical training for students and residents. In 2011, Dr. Birnbach was made senior associate dean for quality, safety and risk for the entire UHealth-University of Miami Health System. The editor of two textbooks, author of more than 100 published articles and frequent lecturer; he is a well-known leader in patient safety research and education.
