Ronald Paulus, MD. President and CEO of Mission Health (Asheville, N.C.). Dr. Paulus was named CEO of Mission Health in September 2010 and introduced his vision of BIG(GER) Aim, a quality initiative that focuses on providing every patient their desired outcome in a quick, waste-free manner. Mission's inpatient mortality rate has since declined 40 percent, which translates into 500 additional lives saved. Under Dr. Paulus' leadership, the Mission Health member hospitals have been named Joint Commission Top Performers and Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals by the National Rural Health Association, iVantage Health Analytics and Chartis Center for Rural Health in 2017. Prior to joining Mission Health, Dr. Paulus served as executive vice president of clinical operations at Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger.
