Patrick Charmel. President and CEO of Griffin Hospital (Derby, Conn.). Mr. Charmel's association with Griffin Hospital ties back to 1979, when he served as a student intern at the hospital while attending Hamden, Conn.-based Quinnipiac College. As CEO of the 160-bed acute care community hospital, he focuses on developing consumer-driven, patient-focused services — such as a care partner program that allows family members to become part of a patient's care team — to boost patient satisfaction, while maintaining high operational efficiency. Mr. Charmel, who earned a master's degree in public health from New Haven, Conn.-based Yale University, sits on the boards for the Connecticut Hospital Association, the Quinnipiac Alumni Association and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce.
