Mohan Suntha, MD. CEO of University of Maryland Medical Center (Baltimore). Dr. Suntha took the helm of the University of Maryland Medical Center, the flagship institution of the 12-hospital University of Maryland Medical System, in September 2016. UMMC consists of an 800-bed teaching hospital and a 200-bed community teaching hospital. Dr. Suntha's tenure at UMMS extends back to 1991 when he served as a radiation oncology resident; he went on to become a tenured professor before entering into executive leadership. In 2012, Dr. Suntha took on the role of president and CEO of Towson-based University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, where he oversaw a strategic plan to fix the hospital's financial challenges.
