Katherine Gottlieb. President and CEO of Southcentral Foundation (Anchorage, Alaska). Ms. Gottlieb has led Southcentral Foundation, an Alaska Native-owned nonprofit healthcare organization, since 1991. Southcentral Foundation serves around 65,000 Alaskan Native and American Indian people living in Anchorage, the Matanuska-Susitna Valley of Alaska and the surrounding 55 rural villages. Southcentral Foundation and the Alaska Native Tribal Health consortium took over ownership of the Alaska Native Medical Center in 1999 and have since reorganized the management structure to unify health system operations. During her tenure as president and CEO, Ms. Gottlieb oversaw a whole system redesign, and emergency room visits have dropped 36 percent over the last 10 years. In addition to her local work, she is involved in Alaska Native and American Indian policy issues nationally.
